15″ Ultra-Thin Notebook Due in March 2012 (REPORT)

Small number of components for a 15″ ultra-thin notebook from Apple are reported by Digitimes to be shipped this month with bulk shipments of the upcoming notebook to begin in March 2012.

The device could be Macbook air or a thinner MacBook Pro. Upstream suppliers of Apple recently shipped a small volume of this ultra-thin notebook model from Apple in November. The release date of the new model is expected to be as early as March 2012, as reported by the sources of upstream supply chain.
It’s still not clear whether the parts are intended for a thinner 15″ Macbook Pro or a 15″ MacBook Air. In July, we were informed that a new ultra thin 15″ notebook was Apple’s next project. We also heardrumors last month that the new device was almost nearing completion.
Similar to the current MacBook Air models, the new machine is expected to fore-go an optical drive, and use an SSD rather than an HDD. Earlier this fall, the MacBook Pro line was refreshed with graphics, minor processor and storage upgrades.
